Campo de' Fiori was once a place of public executions. Today it holds a morning market of produce, flowers and spices, and fills with students and visitors in the evening. A statue of the philosopher Giordano Bruno, who was burned here in 1600, stands in the middle.
The market is more touristy than it used to be, but the spices, truffle products and fruit are still good, and the area is a convenient base for eating around Via dei Giubbonari and Piazza Farnese.
Tickets / priceFree to visit. Market produce is priced per kilo, so check prices before you buy.
Opening hoursThe market runs Monday to Saturday in the morning, until about 14:00. In the evening the square is full of bars and restaurants, and it is quieter on Sundays.

Insider tips
- Look at prices before buying fruit or souvenirs; some stalls charge visitors a lot more than locals.
- For a good, cheap pizza by the slice, walk to Forno Campo de' Fiori on the square corner for pizza bianca.
- Piazza Farnese, one minute away, is far quieter and has two fountains made from Roman baths.
