Jets of water shoot up to around 140 metres in choreographed shows set to Arabic, classical and pop music. The shows are free and last a few minutes each, and the evening ones are lit up against the Burj Khalifa.

The best free views are from the promenade by The Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar. For a closer look, a short paid boardwalk ride or an abra on the lake gets you right into the spray.

No booking needed for the free shows. Arrive 15 minutes early for a spot at the railing in the evening.

Insider tips

The bridge between The Dubai Mall and Souk Al Bahar gives a great, slightly raised view.
Restaurants on the waterfront terraces have the best seats; book a table for the 20:00–21:00 shows.
Stay for two or three shows: the music changes each time.
