Rules & tickets in Barcelona
Booking, fines and dress codes.
Book the big sights ahead
The Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and Casa Milà all sell timed tickets online, and the best slots go quickly in summer. Book as soon as you know your dates, using the official sites only. The Sagrada Família releases tickets about two months in advance. Source: Official sites of the Sagrada Família and Park Güell, checked 2026-10-11
Dress codes in churches
Churches such as the Sagrada Família and the cathedral expect covered shoulders and knees. Carry a light scarf or wrap in summer. Outside churches there is no dress code, but walking through the city in just swimwear is fined.
Beach and public rules
Barcelona has strict rules on public behaviour. Walking away from the beach in swimwear, drinking alcohol in the street, public urination and unlicensed street selling can result in fines. Smoking is banned on city beaches. Check local signs, as rules are enforced.
