Catalan and Spanish
Catalonia has two official languages, Catalan and Spanish, and street signs are mostly in Catalan. Most people in tourist areas speak English. Learning a few words in Catalan ("bon dia", "gràcies") is warmly received. Remember that Catalonia has its own identity; avoid calling it "just Spain" in conversation.
