La Rambla runs about 1.2 km from Plaça de Catalunya down to the Columbus monument by the port. It is full of street performers, flower stalls and souvenir shops, and it is the main route to the Boqueria market and the Gothic Quarter.
It is also the city's top pickpocket zone, and the restaurants on the main strip are overpriced. Walk it once for the atmosphere, then turn into the side streets to eat.
Tickets / priceFree to walk. Prices for drinks and food on the boulevard itself are high.
Opening hoursAlways open. Shops and stalls run from the morning to late evening.

Insider tips
- Keep phones and wallets in front pockets; thieves work the crowds near Boqueria and the Liceu.
- Do not sit down for a drink on the main strip without checking the price list first.
- Walk it early in the morning, when it is quiet and the flower stalls are opening.
